A Question Of Timing
« on: 16 January 2014, 23:36 »
So, after many, many calls. Some nice and calm, some.....not so much. I finally have a build date (WC 02/02) for my GTD. This is just 2 months behind when I was told I would have the car!!!

Anyhoo, from experience for people that have their cars, roughly how long after the build date does it take to actually get the car? The reason I ask is I am away to the US with work from next week for 12 weeks, but I do have a 2 week "holiday" period to take. My plan would be to come back around the time my car would be ready, but the dealer was, well hopeless when I asked for an approximate date.

Just to complicate things even more, my current GT TDi MOT is going to run out at the end of March. So I might get back from the states and not be able to drive out of the airport to get home.

Around 4 or 5 weeks is typical if it is actually built on its build week and not 2 weeks later. It could be as little as 3 weeks if it is going to Tyne (cars seem to hang around less time waiting for a ship when they're heading to Tyne).
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
