well i dont have a standard box due to previous owner bodging so a cda was next option there not cheap crap filters so i cant see why a cold air feed to a very high rated air filter would be bad??

And it would be direct as im making custom pipes from bonnet to filter.

Dont know why you are wasting your money when it has been proved beyond doubt that the best solution is a standard airbox with K&N panel filter and a cold air feed.

But then nobody listens to good advice!

You didn't see the thread about stretched tyres then Len! It's ok mate, he knows best and everybody else is wrong, even with evidence to prove otherwise. If you have a search btw sh!ttle, you'll find a thread with back to back dyno runs proving it. You probably know that anyway. Are you related to Bellend by any chance?

those cda boxes are pish, seriously restrictive, what size is the inlet?? if you are wanting a proper induction/cold air feed then you need a proper open cone and a heat shield with a cold air feed fed from the front bumper or the wing

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/car-filters/fb154-06_d171_1.aspx

I have this size air filter fitted to my car same as a 156 GTA 3.2V6 i get discount at work and the hole in the bonnet i had this done on my civic and it made a difference but i didn't have a air feed just an open cone filter near the hole and the difference it made was huge.

I am looking for opinions i know every body says standard air box is best but that wasn't tested against every air filter out there so cant really say that it is the best option, all depends on the car itself and what sort of cold air feed and many other factors.

A slit in the bonnet will help the car breath easier at higher speeds as it will force air in. I wont be doing a air tight air feed it will be gapped for the air to flow in the correct direction toward the BMC CDA not directly into it i have been looking at many ideas so i don't flood my engine on a rainy day.

But as i say looking for opinions not just people butting in from other threads pretending they know what there talking about.

I haven't yet seen a thread with the test of a CDA or many other air filter manufacturers against the standard box so yes that test that was done, a standard box was better on that car on that dyno on that day. We all know dyno readings can be different every time.

Unless you've actually spent £190+ on a cda then you won't realise you have just spent a lot of Wonga on something that just makes more noise... on a vr/32 it can be justified. On a 4cyl just cut your airbox up for the same gains

You sound like you like to waste your monies and like to tinker... buy a project mini or something

£50 more than you needed to pay to get some noise!
