Hi Guys.....
Has anyone had any problems with fitting De-cats on the (ARZ Engine code) 2002 1.8 Turbo Golfs in regards to MOTs or little flashing lights on dashboards...Or is it safer with the Sports cat and if so what Cell is the best as im a thicko when it comes to this sort of thing  :tongue:

unless your friendly with your MOT Tester you will have problems at MOT time. i.e you have to have a cat fitted to pass your mot.


i think the higher the cell the better the sports cat is, but i cant remember off the top of my head. if it was me and i could afford it id always go sports cat.

Not sure but I thought a std cat was 400 cell and sports are 200 or even 100 cells are restrictive (I may have the wrong end of the stick)

GTI is not a trim level. It is a lifestyle.
1999 1.8t AGU, KO3s, forge 007p, silicone tip and charge pipe, oil catch can, SS turbo back system, pipercross CAI, g60/vr6 clutch, 40mm apex springs, drilled and grooved discs, stage 2 remap.

The numbers are all to do with how restrictive the cat is. The lower the number of cells the higher the emissions. A 100 cell probably would not pass an mot as it's not restrictive enough for the emissions side of things but obviously will give more flow to the exhaust system. To save hassles you're best off with a 200 cell. That's what's in milltek downpipe/ sports cats.

i had an ebay 3" down pipe n decat fitted to my auq this week eml light came on yday, i just cleared fault will come back on but its worth it

yeh gonna speak to where i had it remapped see what he suggests

may look into going stage 2 if i can afford the other supporting mods
