Very tricky subject... my Mk.6 was white and I really liked it. The current Roc is DPB and a Royal pain to keep clean. In fact you cant keep it clean is the truth.... so - the mk.7 wil be white again!

I really wanted to order carbon Grey - and I can still change at this point but something stops me. Perhaps its that its close to black and a lot of the detail blends in to the paintwprk particularly around the front of the car - whereas on white its all there and visble. Silver would have been a possibility too - but I had two silver Mk.5's and I guess thats enough!

Carbon Grey is still tempting though - despite being another £300!!!

Have a look at Limestone Grey! My second choice had I not gone for Tornado Red

Carbon Grey for me too - this is my 4th car in this colour.  The worst thing with the Mk7 so far is the lack of availability of Mud Flaps, so this car does look slightly less clean cut after bad weather.  Roll on production of some Mud Flaps VW!

No matter what colour you choose, your'll always wish you had chosen a different colour eventually. Humans naturally want what they don't have and are never happy with our own choices. I have had silver cars, blue cars and now a red car. Each colour has it's benefits and looks good in certain lights.

Enjoy what you have and don't dwell on it as your'll be changing your car in a few years anyway probably.

If it's any consolation CSG gets dirty just as quick and isn't any better at masking the dirt!

I normally prefer darker colours such as black or dark gray but ruled these out with the GTI/GTD.  There are a lot of black details on the car, especially the bumpers which you loose with a darker colour.

I chose Tornado Red, but White does look the Mutts when it's clean.

I think dirty cars look cool this time of year. Very business like!
So my pure white is far from white! No regrets here...

I am so in your camp. PW fantastic when clean and cool when dirty, there is almost no middle ground with PW, so they look as if you care...or don't care... Haven't washed mine for 5 weeks (500 miles a week) and still people love it!

Black for me and was my first choice even after seeing hundreds of images and reviews in red and white before ordering, even when dirty my GTD looks great, complimented really well by the alloys and trim. I did contemplate Red or White but only because that's the only colours I saw of the GTD prior to ordering. I think first colour choice in your head should be the one you pick with a golf

I love the new images of the Golf R in blue and would tempt me, suits it really well with the alloys but would probably choose black as well, more stealthy looking.

I had never been a big fan of white cars, always preferred black or dark grey, but changed my mind when I saw a white GTi in the flesh.  when we ordered the gtd my other half insisted on red, I wasn't sure and was really worried that we'd chosen the wrong colour, but I absolutely love it now

I also think dirty cars look

red GTD, sunroof. BW 39. Picked up 15.10.13

The best colour I have owned for looking cleanest the longest is Metallic Silver.
+1

I would also concur that silver us by far the easiest colour to maintain and for hiding dirt, chips, scratches and dents...very forgiving.

Sadly it doesn't suit all cars and can look quite bland on some models, loved it on my mk5 GT Sport
