Just thought this might be of use to anyone who has to change their MAP sensors on their 1.8t as I've not found much information on this topic.
Does anyone know if the MAP sensors are interchangeable? i.e. from whether the connectors are the same for the smaller 12mm to the larger 18mm and vise versa? And whether changing it works fine with the ECU?
I have the smaller MAP sensor and upon examining the MAP sensor flange on my new intercooler found that I need the larger MAP sensor so I just placed an order through VW this morning.
For reference in case anyone ever needs to order replacement MAP sensors I've come to find these part numbers:
smaller MAP sensor (12mm): 038 906 051
larger MAP sensor (18mm): 038 906 051B
There is an o-ring seal which needs replacing, this needs to be ordered separately.
It should also be noted that short of taking out the MAP sensor and physically examining it there is no way of determining with absolute certainty the size of the MAP sensor, it's not directly related to engine code and going by chassis code is not always correct.
