Ding on Drivers Sill
« on: 08 January 2014, 16:52 »
Happy New year......Well this is a nice start ...was washing the car yesterday and found this little dent on the drivers sill and just by chance I saw it, I have emailed the dealer and asked if he has noticed it, but still waiting on a reply!!!...which I know what the answer will be anyway

The only thing I think that has happened that a little stone has been wedged in door and when closed it has been stuck between the door and sill.....am just gutted....
any ideas how to approch the dealer on this and see if he will cough up and get it fixed??

Doug

Are you saying you had a stone trapped in your door or suppose that is how it must have happened?

Was there any muck there prior to washing? Unless you are within a week of ownership, I doubt the dealership would cop to missing it on psi, so it's your cost to bear to fix it. As it is only visible when the door is open, I woukdn't sweat it.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

2 things...
It's on the inside of the door and on the end of the sill closest to the door hinge, so it really is out of line of sight. The door sills aren't finished to the same standard as the rest of the car anyway. It is possible it came out of the factory like that.
If you are very fussy about it I reckon a PDR guy would fix it for small enough money - £50 or less.

if the paint is fully intact I wouldn't bother doing anything and looking at it I doubt it can be fixed anyway as it's right below the crease line.

I've seen a seatbelt buckle do that to a door jam before (on my wife's car). I wouldn't bother getting it fixed as only you will see it.

Its more of me knowing where it is rather than anything else....and it being a new car
The dealer called bck at 5,30pm and said take it in and we will see what we can do with it, there is a guy we use ( Dents away)
who might be able to fix it, so see what happens!!!

1. It might fix and be as new again
2. It might not fix and just have to leave it
3. Dents away might make an arse of it and make it worse

So might have to suck it and see what happens  :undecided:

Hateful when you come across things like that... Especially when it's a new car.

On a personal note, providing the dents away guy you get is as good as the one I use, I couldn't recommend them enough.

Over the past 5 years he has repaired at least 7 of my cars. Some of the dents have been in incredibly awkward places and I could never figure out how they got their. Isn't cheap but it is a flawless finish without a drill hole, spray can or nasty bit of isopon filler in sight.

Although it is not that noticeable, it's worth repairing IMO.

Hi guys,
Well I had a trip along to the dealers on Monday to see this guy that does the Dents Away!!!....and he said there is nowt that I can do with that, so it was back to the drawing board.
So the sales man said we can give you sill protectors
I said that wont cover the dent!!!...ohh so it wont

So it's now going into the bodyshop on Wednesday for a repair!!...out of goodwill the sales man said
Well I said i do think its happened in the factory, as i cant see any other way it could have happened.

So am dropping the car off on Tuesday, and pickng up a loan car till the Gti is fixed....
