is there any induction kit worth putting on a 91 gti 8v?
and does that stupid trumpet shaped thing in the airbox restrict It Atall?

Not really worth it - stick with the stock air filter and standard box (you can swiss cheese the lower section but only the wing side). Remove the trumpet inside the box as well.
