Recently noticed a squealing noise coming from the near side front of my car when braking and also when im driving normally, any ideas what it could be?

It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Front wheel bearings squeal like a stuck pig when they're shot

The car was only MOT'd just before Christmas with no major faults, I was thinking wheel bearing myself how would I go about checking that?

Is the sound speed related i.e. does the squealing get louder the faster you go? Remove the wheel and check nothing is sticking or rubbing.

Does the note change when cornering putting weight onto the noisy wheel? Turning to the right will put extra weight onto the left wheel. It will quickly get worse if it's a bearing as the bearing will be dry of grease to squeal.

When going slowly is it a constant sound or only every revolution?
