Another Key Fob Problem
« on: 07 January 2014, 00:58 »
Hello all!
I have just parked outside my house and when turning the car off and taking the key out of the ignition I noticed the interior light go off (as it's supposed to) BUT the passenger door also unlocked itself at the same time.
Now this struck me as odd, but I shrugged it off.

The problem came when I then went to lock my car with the key fob as it simply just didn't lock.
What strikes me as more odd is that the button to unlock the car still works, it's only the lock which does not.

I'm hoping this can be resolved by simply reprogramming it, which I will attempt in the morning. But whilst searching a few forums I noticed no mention of only one button on the fob not working, so is this out of ordinary or does anyone know what it could mean?

Cheers all

(EDIT: Oh and its a 1999 3 door GTI in case that changes anything)

I'd say it's the CCM that's had it.

Of if if's like my MK4, it was the CIM needed changing to a CCM

(Central inconvenience module)

CCM? But haha Central Inconvenience Module is a golden.

Thankfully I sorted it this morning.
I put the key in the ignition and as soon as the electrics kicked in I held the unlock button for a few seconds then pressed the lock and it worked.
I'm still rather confused as to why only the lock button stopped working though

Yeah that's what I ended up calling it, haha.

It was a bloody nightmare! Indicators staying on, courtesy lights only working when the door was exactly 12.33mm open, indicators blinking fast and slow, locks going crazy. God I hate the mk4 platform. Good looking cars when sorted though.

I will keep my fingers crossed that I never fall to that problem. Electrical problems are the worst, I can never get my head round them lol.

Reminds me... the switch for my reverse lights needs tampering with. Yay
