« on: 06 January 2014, 20:24 »
Hi every1 I'm thinking about getting a exhaust soon but not sure on what to do
Can sum1 tell me the differances between turbo back and cat back ?
Is it better to av turbo back ?
Also was thinking about getting a power flow at my local dealers from the cat back 4 £240

Turbo back is the best option as this will rid your mk4 of the restrictive down pipe and option for a decat or sports cat freeing a few ponies.

well a turbo back is from the turbo back... a cat back is from the cat back...

turbo back usually consists of down pipe, sports cat or decat, centre sections and back box.

cat back usually consists of centre sections and back box.

cat and down pipe are usually very restrictive so turbo back is better option but obviously costs more... sports cats can be a good few hundred quid for a decent one, decats can be quite cheep but you need a cat to pass your mot so unless you know a friendly mot tester your going to have to put the cat in every year... not sure what the law is if the police had a look at your car and saw you had a decat, unsure if they can do anything? I believe I read somewhere they can fine you? but very unlikely to happen...

I used to work in the exhaust business and I wouldn't recommend powerflow. We used to get plenty of cars coming in to have their powerflows taken off due to very poor welding and even sometimes the system fouling against the floor (on none lowered cars as well).
Milltek may cost a lot more but they're of better quality.

Also, I think BCS in St Helens have a downpipe with a flange fitting for easy swaps between a cat and decat. Which might be worth looking at for ease of use round MOT

scorpion are also a pretty good make, much cheeper than miltek too... few people running the 3" ebay specials too and heard good things on them, sure someone can link you too it.

miltek are good and you get a good warrenty, but there alot lot lot more expensive... imo you pay for the brand more than the quality with miltek
