original engine number
« on: 05 January 2014, 22:02 »
Firstly I have to thank all on here for information to date...

I've proved the engine number matches what's on my V5.

How do I find out what the engine number was on the car when it was built?

This will clarify if engine has been replaced or not

Cheers

try VW, maybe they can check the history with Wolfsburg... other than that without original paperwork it's gonna be difficult

As said in the last post VW will be your best bet for the correct info also have you got the original service book or do a HPI check as that should tell you if there has been any changes.
I have rebuilt my ABF engine and there was no engine number on the block only a sticker on the top cam belt cover.
There is a build sticker in the boot but that will only tell you the engine type not number.
