Anyone with discover nav and late build confirm if its got USB ? I know sale bloke said its pro nav only but doesn't make sense VW wouldn't standardise although I realise the flaw ib the argument as its logic.  Anyone ?

Mine is at the dealer all ready to go and it has the normal MDI connection near the gear lever apparently. Only pro nav as you say that has the USB connection

Hi,
Nobody knows what Volkswagen is playing at! Lol
I would say the most/all new build cars should come with the new USB interface rather than the MDI.
Mine was BW46 but came with MDI.

I have discover nav (the basic one) and it came with a green collard MDI lightening lead. Picked the car up yesterday.

Album artwork seems to work fine, but when you look in the video folders it says there are 'no playable files'. Does that sound right? Has anyone managed to play video using the MDI lightening lead and an iPhone 5?

I'm confused!

I have a Dec13 car with basic radio/media unit and advanced phone prep. I can use Bluetooth for phone calls but it doesn't seem to play music through Bluetooth.

There's a usb socket under the armrest that charges the phone but doesn't seem to do anything else. There's a short iphone 4 style plug under the cover in front of the gear lever. I think there's something in the glovebox too.

What's the best way to play music stored in my phone through the car radio?

My BW50 with Discover Pro came with the USB but it will only charge. The USB option in media is still greyed out. Does it just work once you plug the phone in?

Iphone 5 and genuine apple lead btw.

Strange? I'm using an old Ipod touch and it works with the USB through the Pro Nav Screen along with my iphone 4 if I plug that in. My dealer gave me the USB 30 pin connector type when I picked it up. It looks like a normal white apple lead to me  :undecided:

With advanced phone prep, the following thread may help:
