Sat nav - Discovery v Discovery Pro

Speccing up a new GTD and also looking at a few quicker delivered options. Some cars have no nav which is lilely what I would spec if factory build to save costs and because it won't be used much. Another car has Discovery Nav and another Discovery Pro.

What are the main differences between the 2 systems, apart of course from the larger screen which does look good. Is the basic system considered the poor relative as its a lot cheaper. I'm guessing both systems should hopefully add something to the resale value.

I have the standard Nav and i think it is more than adequate. It does exactly as it should and the entire Infotainment system as a whole works very well.

The Nav Pro looks really classy and makes the dash look better too. However i couldn't justify the extra cash, i would rather spend it elsewhere, like the Performance Pack.

Happy with the Discovery nav, though given the cost of the car this should really be standard fit, paying a further £700+ grates!

I too have ordered the standard Nav but can't yet tell you much about it as my car is only due in a few weeks. However, although the PRO looks very nice indeed with the huge screen in the dash, I couldn't justify the extra cost for what's basically a bigger screen and 3D maps.

That said, if I had the extra budget I would have the PRO without a doubt.

Indeed - the basic issue here is that to lower the price of th GTD and GTI VWUK spec them sans sat-nav. This looks very obvious as the GT has basic sat-nav included. Its just a cost cutting excercise and laughable that a car at this price level does not have it. Spec shoudl be same as GT - standard included and Pro for addtional cost.  Alas its not the case.

Re-sale - it would add a little - but I would say it would make a private sale a lot easier - as do all cars loaded with options, particularly the Pro version as it looks so damned good in the dash!

Discovery Pro also has a DVD player and hard drive.

I also have the Nav Pro. I agree it's difficult to actually justify the extra spend, but I'm glad I did as I know I'd want the bigger Nav screen unit if I had gone with the standard unit.

I only have the basic but I have traffic signs, video through my iPod and contact addresses through my phonebook.
