Ignition amp won't show on vagcom
AGU coils are very rare to fail
When my amp went it was a full time constant misfire.
maf may show on vagcom I have a spare maf that you can try/have if you are near portsmouth

you can you know. there is about 250 miles of land north of Glasgow before you reach the sea  anyway problem defo sounds like an ht breakdown at high load. did you have your coils replaced? or could be fuel pressure fault.
