Coming home lights
« on: 24 December 2013, 08:35 »
Hi all,

Just a quick one, may be a silly question however I won't know until I ask.

I have the coming home lights turned up to the maximum 30s in the menu. When you shut the engine off (keyless for me) the lights stay on the minute I open the door they turn off kind of defies the purpose of the feature unless I am misunderstanding something. I thought they are meant to stay on for 30s after you lock the car.

Comments welcome including the most obvious ones.

Merry Christmas to all btw.

It's not that obvious these days mate, you need to "flash" your main beam on exit to get them to stay on, it's not like the mk5 was where they would just stay on for 30s after turning the ignition off. Rubbish really!

I changed my mk6 back to the way the mk5's work with VCDS, I am sure it can be tweaked with a VCDS too.

Yep.  Just be aware if you flash the lights to use the welcome home lights in a car park you may get some interest form local doggers.

I've also VCDS'd my lights to come on automatically when the ignition is turned off and the door opened (mine is Keyless too), but in addition, I've activacted my front fogs as well as the "U" shaped DRL's as coming home / Leaving home lights. This give an excellent spread of light in poorly lit areas.

This is what I'm planning on doing :)

Strange why the flash method is standard on the golf and my missues 2014 Leon has the ignition method as standard. Need to hunt down some VCDS tweaks methinks

Now I really need some VCDS tweaks, norbreck that sounds interesting. Only really use it at home where it's a bit dark at night where I park.
