For those who hate the artificial engine sound

I take it the "enhanced" sound isn't good then? Does it compare with putting cards in your bike spokes as a kid ?. 

Lol could be something like that. I'd have to drive a car without though.

I quite like the sound, 2.0T Volkswagen blocks don't really sound great so they had to do something.
Still can't beat big engines for sound,

Oh I don't know, I had a 1.3 polo g40 which sounded great. 

(Though I guess that was the supercharger mixing with wheelspin )

I like the little farty noise the GTI makes when you put your foot down a bit. I think its the valves or something? (anyone know what im talking about?) Its like a little backfire but more......farty.

Are you referring to the famous DSG "burps" when you upshift on the flappy paddle with the throttle down?

Yeah could be a 'burp' rather than a 'fart'. I don't need to be using the paddles though, seems to do it if I put my foot down in any mode. If its rev'd up high enough it'll burp when changing gear. (DSG)
