What did you find out about your GTI today ?
« on: 21 December 2013, 13:08 »
As the title says really.
What features or options do you really like or have you found out something that it does that you didn't know about and want to share with everyone else.
What are the little things that make all the difference.
Seeing as there are currently 24 pages of moans and groans about our cars on another thread just thought it was time to redress the balance and offer some positives for a change !!

I found deep in the 'Car' settings in the infotainment system that i could change the locking to 'Automatic'. This locks the car at about 15mph and leaves it locked until you open a door or have a serious accident.

It's a security feature I like when my wife is out alone at night in the car. But I do wonder sometimes where she goes...

That has been a standard feature over here for quite a while now. Well it has been enabled on both my Scirocco's
I would be surprised if it is not already enabled on the Mk7 Golf. Strange if they don't automatically enable it in Switzerland Though. Great safety feature

Could be I switched off when I first got the car just fooling around with the settings.

Here's another the tilting passenger door mirror on reverse. This needs setting up with each key and can be different with each...

I had to enable the auto car lock feature - I think it is disabled by default.

Although I noticed this on my GTD it should still apply to the GTI I noticed the other day when filling my boot up that there is a 12v outlet in the boot.

Good idea but I can't think of a use for it at the moment but I've never had a car with that in the boot

On older models it used to work without the ignition being on so you could charge devices in the car without them being on show.  Now it needs the ignition on.  Maybe a 12v cool box for the summer?

Will suit my 12v cool box! It might be possible to shift a fuse by half a position to enable permanent 12v.
