Milage as in my yearly milage?

I used to do 13k, but change of jobs means i think that will be closer to 10k.  Ive done the maths and the gti will cost around £800 more over the year (insurance, tax, fuel) compared to the diesel.  However that was calculated before i read that premium unleaded should be used, so perhaps that will push it over the £1000 extra for the year.

Tough call haha.

On a side note, ive been looking for cars upto 60k (fsh of course), but not sure if its worth pushing a little higher with the milage to get a cheaper price or not.  Is it worth it?  Im used to diesels, and you have the old saying 'its only just run in at 100k', but not sure the same can be said for petrols, especially gti's.

You're well in Petrol territory there, go for the GTI. From a running cost perspective I don't think the newer TDI will be much better on fuel than the older 1.9 TDI so it doesn't make as much sense to cost yourself money to gain marginal economy?

Expect around 30 mpg day to day but it varies on what sort of traffic you drive in.

I don't think you will regret it.

Buy on condition not mileage. A well looked after model is fine at higher mileages like any car.

Tbh i have a 9 mile commute, which is along A/B roads, i work at JLR in Gaydon.  Other than that, its the usual pottering around town and the occasional sunday blast.  I do go to my hometown in Cumbria maybe 5 times a yeah which is a solid 400+ mile round trip, so those times are gunnna make me cry at the pump lol

I know there is no right answer, but surely cars pushing 100k are going to be potential liabilities?  Im conscious of owning a 100k+ car after 1or2 years and struggle to move it on.
