Advanced Telephone Preparation
« on: 19 December 2013, 12:02 »
Has anyone found that the advanced telephone preparation works and offers any improvement to their mobile phone signal, if so are you doing anything special like removing your phone case, just placing it in the elastic holder or lying it in the bottom of the compartment.

For me there is absolutely no improvement in signal whether I have it on the passenger seat, in my pocket or use the ATP signal induction box. What a waste of £250, all because I wanted a heated screen (that has no separate control for switching on).

Would love to hear feedback on whether anyone can detect any benefit. Thanks.

Mine is a Samsung Galaxy S3 with an Otterbox commuter case and there is simply no improvement, maybe the ATP is just designed for iphones.

Hi,

How bad is the signal when not using the advanced phone connection?  I am assuming it works better in marginal signal areas?  I have it specced on my new car purely because I also am having the heated windscreen.

I will report back on it when I get the car though

I don't have the advanced phone prep, yet the signal is fine (iPhone 5, phone in my pocket, O2) - crystal clear and never drops.

For me the advanced phone preparation offers no improvement over having the phone in my pocket despite the heated windscreen. I live in a rural area with variable phone signal, in my scirocco with the RSAP system it never dropped out on my commute to work, now it drops out in 2-3 places. Not what I was hoping for bearing in mind the expense. If I have to take my phone out of its case everytime I get in the car to make it work it is a complete waste of time.

Is that the situation using the advance phone thing and not using it?

Does it boost the signal of any phone that is placed in the arm rest pocket?

I thought the phone had to support rSAP which none of the apple products do...

I thought that it's just makes contact with the inductive plate which inturn boosts the signal.

I think your right if there's an inductive plate in there then I would expect it to work with all phones.  The rSAP thing works via Bluetooth I think so if it was using that it wouldn't really need to be in the arm rest pocket would it?
