160k from a 1.4

Went into one of the dealerships I buy cars from today & they asked if I would be interested in buying 2 MK4 Golf's ?

One is a Grey 53 plate 1.4 Match & the other is a 53 Plate Gold / Beige GT TDi 130, Obviously I was interested but only the 1.4 was in at the time (GT TDi comes in on Friday).

 

Anyway got the keys & started to look round it, First impresions were that its a tidy car, Body work in fairly reasonable condition, Alloys not too bad, Interior nice & clean, Then I noticed the clocks 160,000 miles on it !!

 

Took it for a drive & apart from it being a bit stiff to go into first gear it does drive spot on, Loads of history with it & 12 months MOT, Im still tempted to buy it as they are pairing it up with the GT TDi that's coming in.

 

Just goes to show the 1.4 can last if looked after

It all comes down the price, I wouldn't touch it unless they were pretty much giving it away.

Thing is I cant exactly pick & choose what cars I buy, If I want some of the good stuff like the 2 MK5's I bought & the 06 Plate Ibiza I just bought off them then I have to buy some of the crap aswell.

Im thinking I should be able to get £1600 for the GT TDi so the 1.4 petrol would stand me at very minmal amount & should be able to get £500 for that

Surely there is a choice from a 1.4 with 160k.

You have to buy some of the rough with the minters otherwise they would have a compound of crap cars that they couldn't sell.

If they pair them both up at a good price then I don't mind having it, I could always take the alloys off, The CD Player out then Ebay them, Also the same with the head lights as they are the fog lamp type then just scrap the rest for £150
