hi saha, what do you mean by not working?
When you stop on a hill, does it just roll back, does it stop but not restart?

edit-there is a button to the left of the gear stick (my uk model anyway) and that turns it off and on, worth checking it is on.

The Auto Hold button needs to be illuminated. It should default to being on when you have your seat belt on.

You need to come to a complete stop with reasonable pressure on the brake pedal, which is a bit frustrating as is good practice to ease the brakes off before coming to a stop to prevent 'nodding'. When you have stopped, release the brake pedal and it should maintain the brake pressure and hold the car.

In addition to what Dubber said above, the parking brake warning light will illuminate in the dash, but in green rather than the usual red. Your rear brake lights will stay lit too for as long as you are in hold mode, without you having to have your foot on the brake. As soon as you go to move off, auto-hold will disengage fairly smoothly.

Fortunately the brake lights on my Passat go out when Auto Hold engages and I take my foot off the pedal. At least the fella behind doesn't have to stare at them.
