fogged up headlights

hi guys, first post on this forum but have been reading and following for a while, just  received my tornado red gtd today, it is  a lease car, it arrived completely  filthy and needed a wash, so i got down to it and after washing the front end noticed the front lights were very fogged up like there was condensation in them,  should this happen from a wash? also a scratch on the glove compartment and a small chip in the stereo, the lease company is volkswagon lease company..beside that i really love the car especially the colour  should i be on the phone complaining?

This is clearly not supposed to be a new car is it (filthy, complete with scuffs, chips etc). I presume its used or ex demo?

it is new  unless they have clocked it, had 4 miles on the clock :laugh:
the chip is in the inside near radio very very small but it is there, and the scratch is on the glove box , more concerned about the head lights steaming up when washed..

Headlights steaming up is a common thing and happens on a lot of cars which use Xenon lights.
Its nothing to worry about.

yeah just what i was gonna say.
Apparently this can be normal when the car is new. Something to do with being exposed to high moisture environment during shipping at sea. Problem should go away after a few uses of the headlights... drives away the moisture.

And as i said, mine has gone, and have washed since with no re-occurrence.

A couple of packs of silica gel will fix them.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

No need for silica gel IMO.

If the steaming is intermittent then the fix is to park the car in a warm environment (garage, office car park), pop the bonnet, unscrew the covers on the back of the lights (the ones used when replacing bulbs) and leave it there for 2-3 hours.

If the steaming is permanent then you should contact the dealer.

But, as others have said, it should go away by itself after you
