fan operation?
« on: 02 December 2013, 15:50 »
Hi

Not sure my fans are operating correctly.

Engine cold, a/c off, both fans are off

Engine code, a/c on, both fans running. They look fast to me.

Shouldn't just the smaller fan be running slow and the larger fan off until hot?

Please can someone walk me through the operation of the two fans.

Thanks

A/C both fans spin on fast,

A/C off once engine gets hot the slow speed should kick in at around 93-95 degrees.

Fast speed fans kick in at 110 degrees although you probably wont get that hot if there working.

Both fans look pretty fast to me. I read elsewhere that if the fans are both fast and the car is cold then the slow speed operation circuit has failed and I'm looking forward to fan failure. How slow is the slow fan operation supposed to be?

Also why does the a/c require both fans going full tilt when the car is cold?
