Scan for fault codes, the maf can sometimes turn the traction control light on if it's faulty.

+1 My light stayed on when I unplugged my MAF.
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

I had the same problem when I bought my 180. Replaced the MAF and that sorted it

Mine cost 100 quid but you get 30 back if you take them your one, or as close as makes no difference to them numbers anyway. Might be different for your model but it does exactly the same job so I can't see it being too different.

On the 1.8t it's attached to the airbox, I'm assuming it's the same on the 1.4 but couldn't tell you for certain

last time I was in vw prices ranged from £80 to around £150 for a MAF dependant upon the part number. don't see why there all pretty much the same bloody thing. robbing bast.....
