Hello

Thanks for your replies. I have spent 37 years in the motor trade. Whilst working for BMW for 10 years I have seen a lot of events, especially on new cars, but when you are looking forward to your new car and you find a fault, it takes the shine out of it. Especially when it comes to paintwork. My car has some dirt in the front wing as I have said previously. They will only paint the wing, not the adjacent panel, which would show a colour mismatch. Also if you have it painted, the paint on that panel will obviously be thicker.

It's just a shame that VW do not check the cars over properly. Thanks

So now do you understand why some people would prefer that the dealer has minimal contact with the car?

If saha's car had muck embedded in the paint - I would think that is the fault of the manufacturer not ensuring a clean environment, either at the paintshop where the painting took place, or the infrared ovens where the paint is cured. I wouldn't blame that on the dealership. Resoltion of the defect is another thing - arguing about how much of the car needs painting has nothing to do with a failure of the dealership in the detection of a manufacturing fault at PDI, the argument over rectification is another matter.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

It was aimed more at the things he would have seen working for BMW. We've also heard about a lad who used to sell Honda's. In fact I used to sell Fiats. I've got a fair few stories too.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

My GTi arrived and the PDI was as expected.
AutoGlym LifeShine applied properly with no swirl marks.
The only little issue was that my car came with a iPhone4 MDI cable and not the iPhone5 MDI one which they shoul do with. Thats a factory blunder and I wasnt too fussed with it.
