Pump up ya bolster
« on: 23 August 2005, 21:20 »
I have an idea to firm up worn bolsters without the need to strip down seats. You know the expanding foam you get for filling in large cracks. No not these kind of  cracks!! The ones you get in walls. Anyway extend the tube you get with a bit of flexible piping and push it up from the bottom of the seat.

What do you think, feasible or not? I'll try it within the next couple of days and let you know

No it doesn't go hard. Most seats are made from the stuff anyway. The cover should act as a former to maintain the shape. My car has leather and the drivers offside bolster is just a little weak, so I will be pretty cautious and only add a little, but I am sure it will work.

good idea but ill try my idea of cutting your own foam first.

ive used this foam stuff on DIY jobs and it goes rock solid  Would be harsh to crack your ass on a rock solid bolster everytime you get in and out of the car

plus if it does go hard (which i'm pretty sure it will) it'll make the cloth/leather wear out even quicker as there will be no give as you slide your fat ass in and out!! (no puns there are there?)
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
