luckily I only use good suppliers or deal direct (where possible)

It does worry me about counterfeit goods and I know they are out there (in some big volumes at certain "internet" places! ecp can get massive deals directly, so they are unlikely to sell anything other than proper (they also have there own brands for cheapness if you want that type of stuff))

Ok if you say so, I have seen fake air flow meters from them that just do not work on vehicles and replicate the same fault and a dodgy unit in the first place.

The fix was an O.E air flow meter from MB!

I must have just imagined the fault and the part they supplied was so good that I had to buy a genuine one to fix the car.

Same applies to crank position sensors and ABS sensors.

Well I've installed a third party crank angle sensor and an ABS sensor on my Corrado recently and both are fine?

No idea what that says.

I have to say some Chinese (non branded) parts are well shocking!

Saying 3rd party parts is a bit wrong! I sell Hella - Febi - Meyle - Valeo - Elring - Delphi to name a few and all are o.e suppliers and I wouldn't say they are 3rd party, I would say they are o.e replacement

(I have some valeo parts in stock which also have the vw part numbers stamped on them, I can't say these are genuine as the box is different, if you go to vw you get the same part in a vw box for 50% more money! Why someone wants to spend more beats me?)

That says you've bought some cheap sh!t and it worked.

I've bought some cheap ABS sensors for a Clio I ran about it, been spot on. Also bought 3 super cheap coils from ECP. One after the other and one packed in after two months, replaced with Valeo then replaced the 4th one with Valeo and been golden.

It's all hit and miss with cheap parts.

I flat out refuse to fit cheap thermostats from ECP, GSF or anywhere these days, ALWAYS seem to have issues.

Yeah i bought a cheap and nasty thermostat from ECP for my TDI when i first picked it up but it's still in the glovebox after all the horror stories I've read about them since. It's too much of a faff to change twice so im just going to buy another decent branded one this weekend instead.
