Front Assist, ADC, ACC Help
« on: 26 November 2013, 08:54 »
Hi folks

Can someone please clarify what I need to do to make sure the Front Assist to work. Do I need ACC on or can I just drive normally (manual GTD) and just assume the Front Assist is working. I have scoured the forum but cant seem to get a definitive answer. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

I think front assist / city braking is 'on' all the time.  I was driving through the city at the weekend and got my first red alert on the dash computer due to a guy on a cycle.  I was just driving as normal and had nothing additional siwtched on.

ACC is the adative cruise control?  so this is something that you manually switch on when on longer journeys (eg motorways) etc as you would have with a normal cruise control system.

In the car set-up (press car button on the radio, then press the cog icon on the touchscreen and it’s in there, maybe under something called “assistance systems” or “driver aids” – something like that. There will be a tick box for front assist) you can set front assist active, it can work independently of the ACC (Active Cruise Control), so you can have it on all the time with or without cruise control being used.

Not sure how well mine works to be honest – sometimes it does not want to detect something that should be well within range of giving you the first warning symbol (2 cars with a “!” in between). You can be quite close to the car in front on the flat or going downhill and no detection is made, yet you start going uphill at the same distance or less and the symbol appears. It is as if the sensor is looking over the top of the car in front when going downhill and not seeing it. Something I will have set but not rely upon. Not sure how affected by frosting up or getting dirty the sensor is when we are now into mucky winter driving.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

On the end of the indicator stalk there is a button, press it and you'll see a tick box in the DIS that'll tell you whether it's active or not, if the box isn't ticked just press OK to change it.

I think mine is uber sensitive...I've had the red lines at least 5 times and I'm sure it's not my driving style
