Need some help with ecu swapping
« on: 25 November 2013, 22:48 »
Have tried in the re-mapping forum but not had a reply so trying I get a wider audience'a attention

Hi guys , I had ago at chipping my ecu , I had a pc repairers fit my EPROM socket and I fitted the chip and now my car won't run
No fuel and no spark.

Issue lies with my EPROM as 3 pins won't take solder because some mother board came away with the old chip

So I've got fault code 00546 data wiring fault

So I think I would be better with a new ecu
As I've lost all faith in these home DIY chipping and I'm having it done by a professional mapping company now who will do it on dyno and suit it to my car instea of a generic map

I have a second hand ecu with matching pt number as mine

I have full vag com

Anyone know how to swap ecu's on immobiliser 1 system I think it is being 1996

I've read this

This procedure details how to swap engine control modules on VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda vehicles with Immobilizer I.
Contents [hide]
1 Determining IMMO-ID
2 ECU Swapping
Determining IMMO-ID

[Select]
[25 - Immobilizer]
or in vehicles with Immobilizer included in Instrument Cluster
[17 - Instruments]
Look at the first "Extra" field. You should see something like: Immo-ID VWZ7Z0W0648696.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

ECU Swapping

Prerequisites:
Battery voltage at least 12.0 V.

[Select]
[25 - Immobilizer]
or in vehicles with Immobilizer included in Instrument Cluster
[17 - Instruments]
[Login - 11]
4-digit PIN
Enter zero followed by the 4-digit PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.
[Do it!]

[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 000
[Read]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Switch OFF the ignition and after 5 seconds switch it ON again.
Make sure NOT to start the car within the next 2 minutes. After that, try starting the engine.

Can someone confirm the process please as seems too easy and where do I find the spoken off PIN number ?

i dont think you need to log in to adapt a new ecu on immo 1 systems. just try the adaptation see what happens. if it fails you'll need to get vagtacho to read the pin.

Cheers that's what I needed to know

I'll try it tomorrow and hope ! I'm picking up my £5 eBay win ecu in the morning.

And give the process from Ross tech ago , but as I fully paid for it if I get stuck I'll give the help line a ring just annoying as America are behind us but there always top people at Ross tech
