Little did I know a year ago that in a months time I would be sat in a room and told I was being made redundant, and would lose my job at the end of June 2013. I managed to secure another job in the Bank I work for, but at the last minute another position popped up. It involved moving back to my old team (which I worked in for 4 years), but I was offered a supervisor position as they were desperate for help, plus no one else had applied for the position on account of the department going more of less down the pan. Obviously the pay rise helped
I got down there and instead of helping supervise a team, I was dumped with my own team. One to ones, yearly reviews and probations, all completely alien to me! Well I had another interview this week, and was told on Friday I'd been successful obtaining the position of Section Manager, in the same department. To say I'm over the moon is an understatement! Two promotions in 5 months, from an administrator to manager! I never would have thought it possible after working in the same industry for almost 11 years and getting no where!
So this week I have learned that sometimes sticking with a company can pay off, as opposed to switching jobs constantly. Plus, sometimes going back to work for an old department can have its benefits! Most of all though, I finally realised that you can't just expect to be handed a job on a plate, you have to actually prove you're able to do the job beforehand
I may have finally grown up lol.
