Start to build
« on: 23 November 2013, 20:07 »
Guys, my Build week starts tomorrow 24.11.13, how long before should I see it move from BW confirmed to Build in Progress?
Am I right in saying that it takes 30hrs to build a car from scratch to finish and leave the factory

If you could inlighten me on these few questions that would top notch

Cheers
Doug

I'm sure there are more knowledgable folk here ;)

But just looking at the VW pages (http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/track-my-order/faq )

it says:
How long does it take to build my car?
It depends on a lot of factors, but to give you some idea it takes around 30 hours to build a Golf, split over two to four days.

What happens when my car is confirmed for build - does it get built straight away?
Vehicles are typically confirmed for build four weeks before they actually begin being built. This is to ensure the exact components are available at exactly the right time for your bespoke order. To give you an example of how complicated this can be, with all the engines, derivatives and options available on our model range, there are around 100,000 different build combinations available to order in the UK alone.

Mine didn't tick over to 'Build in Progress' until the following Sunday from the start of my build week. The build could start any time during your allocated build week
