Was quoted £264 just over a month ago, had to renew yesterday and same firm (esure) took £296 - 9% rise in a month. 38y/o, 12 years no claims, 1 non fault accident 2 years ago (car hit my parked Scirocco whilst waiting for the wife outside her work) and 3 points for speeding (SP30), parked on driveway. Premium includes protected no claims and total excess of £200.
Sounds about right for round here to me.
Some cheap quotes posted here must be some cheap post codes down south. It does not seem to matter what I get quotes on everything from an i10 , GTI,  R or caymanS is around 250 give or take 30 quid.  . But an R8v10 is only 500

I know that one of the bigger drivers of insurance premium is your annual mileage...

The insurance premium on my 911 reduced by almost 40% when I reduced my annual mileage on renewal from 20,000 to 10,000... I'll do less than that next year... the GTD is coming to do all the mundane miles

This is ridiculous it's going to cost me best part of a grand to insure my gti when it comes and you could be insured for the best part of a decade for that!

Don't think you'll see that quote beaten.

How is it costing you that much?

At 20, I though my insurance would be pretty hefty. Admittedly, mine's a GTD, and the insurance was £620. I did try on a GTI as that was always a consideration, and it was only £50 more.

I got mine through compare the market with Elephant.

The big thing which got my insurance down was named drives. With just me, it was £1800. With me, my partner, and my two brothers, it came down to £700!

After then playing with a few other bits, it was cheaper to say I leave the car on the road instead of a garage.
It was cheaper to start the policy 30 days in advance, then call them when taking it out instead of buying online and get them to put the policy to the day you actually want. Doesn't change the price.
Try your profession out with different job titles as some shoot it right up. For me, a car salesmen was twice the price of a sales executive working in the motor trade.

And my variables are. I'm 20. Held licence 2.8 years. No NCB (due to being made up on a company car which somehow doesn't count??). I do however live in a safe Post Code.

Bet your excess is bout £400 though right?????
