Matty, you obviously don't realise how childish comments like that make you seem.

You've come on here, started a thread about illegal headlights and when people have suggested you shouldn't do it, giving you valid reasons why, you start throwing insults around.

Booth has got it spot on. You really need to grow up.

Couldn't agree more, well said

Very sorry to resurrect this one but I have a few thoughts on this. Firstly I do NOT want to install light that are going to dazzle other drivers, its dangerous and I hate it on the motorway when other cars have them.

I have bought a set of night breakers (H7) for my dipped headlights and some philips cool blue side lights.

and some rather nice fog lights: http://www.phoenixautobulbs.co.uk/pr/abs-cobalt-blue-h9/

The only bulbs left are the H15 main beam/DRL bulbs. Now Osram appear to be the only people that make them and so there is a choice of 1 bulb and for the DRL they are yellow and look a bit naff. I have found a HID kits for the H15 that would give a HID main beam and a 15w DRL.

Assuming the 15w DRL is not dazzling (i doubt it would be) I think i'd be happy to use these as the only time the HID light would be on is if i had full beam on, (whether it is HID or halogen full beam is dazzling anyway) and i would dip my light for oncoming traffic and so the H15 HID would go off and the H7 night breaker halogen would be on.

Thoughts?

I think the problem was you suggested replacing the H7s which are the dipped lights. Replacing H7 halogens with HIDs would be a terrible idea. Your dipped main beam H7 are what you use most of the time. You would only use your H15 Main beam when no other car was in sight and so whether it was halogen or HID wouldn't really make any difference.

The problem with using a HID for main beam is slow warm up time that you get with all aftermarket kits. They are fine for dip (in the appropriate headlights) as once they are on, they stay on, but for main beam, every time you flash them or switch to main beam, you'll have to wait a couple of seconds until they reach full brightness.

I said in another thread, try using your hazard lights. That's what I have to do when reversing a trailer in the dark.
