My CSG Mk7 5 Door GTI (Pic Heavy)
« on: 22 November 2013, 14:47 »
In honor of this thread: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=261522.0 - thought it only fair to show you a 5 door version that's been freshly detailed! :-)

Massive thanks to Stuart Curtis of Vehicle Detailing Services (http://www.vdservices.co.uk/car-valet-norwich-index.html) for an absolutely fantastic job. Protection detail completed at a very reasonable price. Included:-

Foam pre wash, Hand washed using lambswool wash mitts, 2 buckets method, wheels & arches cleaned & dressed, paint work clayed & cleansed, Carnauba wax applied by hand, wheels sealed and Wolfs HardBody Sealant applied.

I'm very pleased with the results. Stuart has a real (almost OCD) attention to detail and spotted so many little imperfections/defects in the paint that I'd completely missed (and I'm thorough, especially when spending the best part of £30k on a car!) He's done a great job, as evidenced from the pictures below.

Pre-treatment:-

Nasty transport sticker glue/residue:-

Snow-foam:-

Post-treatment:-

Some more photos of this of this and his other work can be found here:-

I'd highly recommend that anyone purchasing a GTi/GTD (or any new car for that matter!) gets a professional protection detail done as soon as they can. Don't go for the dealer options, they are two expensive and not (normally) carried out by seasoned professionals who really take pride in their work. Tell the dealer just to 'prepare' the car for the road and not to valet it pre-collection. I made the mistake of having my dealer 'valet' the car, which I strongly believe is the reason for some of the imperfections found by Stuart (who he did a great job of correcting!)

Looks stunning mate! That's cheered me up seeing that. I've a 5 door PP in CSG on order and that has made me happy with my colour choice

All the reviews show that the Bridgestone S001 are good for grip, braking and noise in warm dry conditions... amongst the worst in cold and damp for grip and braking... Personally, I'd be far happier if my car turns up with Michelin (not a chance), Continental or even Pirellis...

Thanks! Yes, they did come with the Bridgestone S001s - not up to date on the latest 'best' tyres, so good to hear the feedback!

I so nearly went for the 'Night Blue' but made a last minute change when ordering to the CSG after seeing some pictures on this forum. It looks even better in the flesh!

I was also thinking about the night blue as it was a bit different. I've not seen the blue in person though and I've always wanted a nice dark grey...easy decision in the end! I hope you keep it that clean now

Looking good mate!  8)  Did the dealer wash it after pdi or did you ask them not to?
