Car getting build early
« on: 22 November 2013, 07:31 »
Hi all, my car was estimated for build 3 rd week of Jan and just looked at the tracker and it's got a confirmed build week of 15th December.

I am well surprised and a little gobsmacked after all the delays for other people. I only ordered last week of October. Granted I only added rear camera so standard spec may have made a difference.
On Order - Mk 8.5 Clubsport Pure White, Queenstown, DCC.
MK 7.5 R Pure White, Pretoria Silver, DCC, Rear Camera.
Gone - MK 7 GTI Carbon Grey, Rear Camera, Service Pack.
Gone - MK 6 GTI  Reflex Silver, Monza Shadows, RCD 510, Rear Camera, Bluetooth, Tyre Pressure Sensor, Xenons Convenience pack, Service Pack :)
Gone - MK 5 GTI Reflex Silver, Monza II 18's, Luxury Pack, Mulitchanger

Is it through a lease company James - they often have build slots pre-allocated.

I ordered my GTD on the 7th October and the tracker still has it as "With the factory".
I thought with a standard spec car my build week might come forward from the uncomfirmed BW04 that the dealer gave me.

You best hope that thing gets built at the start of the week.

Come the end of the week the German's will be going out getting drunk, slacking off work ready for their 2 week holiday!

Recently sold my GTD.

It worries me as I am the only person on this forum (I think!) that actually does not want their car in less than five months! I ordered first week November so hoping it does not show up until April... its really because I want to pay more off the current car and not trying to be selling it in winter... oh and the 14 plate for new GTD too!

Yeah, that's the only thing about getting your car built in December… they'll all be thinking about beer & Chrimbo, not making an excellent job of the car! Even worse if it's finished on a Friday - A 'Chrimbo Friday afternoon car' could end up being a real turkey. Hope VW standards are kept high as ever during the pre-festive weeks  :undecided:

I think they were thinking about the upcoming Oktoberfest when they built mine, what with the dodgy handbrake and bust shock mount bearings.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

No it's not a lease dealer. Main dealer.

I know about being built just before Christmas that's the 1st thing that crossed my mind. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Monday or Tuesday build.

Hi,

I am in a similar position. Car ordered 22 October and being build W/B 24/11/13!!   My PCP on my current Golf ends July 14  :undecided:

I will have to try and find the money to finish it early, as I can't imagine being able to handle my new car sitting in the dealers storage area for 6 months!

I'm pretty excited though

Hi Ian,  If you end the PCP earlier the car will be worth more (ie depreciated less) so it sort of cancels things out at this stage. At any time you can get a settlement figure from VW FC and its usually less than the car is worth (or at least should be unless you paid full list with no deposit!) so you shoudl have some equity toward the next deposit.
