is my turbo gone??

hello fellas its not my car thank god but this is what my mates car sounds like

its a gt tdi 150 and the sound it makes sounds just like this

so it the turbo fubar'd??

now I know the video if of an sti but we haven't got access to the car at the moment but it sounds just like this

Don't sound blown, but does sound lie ether one of the perpellars are buggered or the bearings are gone? is there black some or oil coming out from the back?

I'm not a massive expert when it comes to turbos however I Do think that is turbo related but a turbo refurbishment might fix that as apposed to a turbo replacement

Depends if the impellor has damaged the housing

When mine went it totalled everything........... :whistle:

Cost between a refurb and a brand new item sometimes isn't all that different

Oh and drive it to the garage or get it recovered.  If it lets go completely the engine may run on like mine did and the only way to stop it is to stall the engine

Was rather surreal as I was stood outside the car with my keys in my hand and yet the engine was still revving.  Luckily for me a passer-by knew what to do and saved my engine!!
