PCP and handover of keys?
« on: 17 November 2013, 18:01 »
Guys!

Who bought there GTI/GTD on a PCP and was all the documents signed and finance sorted in the dealership in order to drive away that day? My dealer is miles away and I can't do two trips!

Thanks

They'll try and get you in to sell GAP & Paint.

But you shouldn't have to do two trips.

They can get everything approved, and just tell you what proofs you need. I've emailed mine over to them so they can see them. They have been faxed off and it's all okay.

The only thing they need is to see my original proofs (driving licence, credit card bill, and utility bill) when I pick the car up. But that's all. Only the one trip to pick it up.

I did it with my Mk6. Had to hang around for about half an hour, but that wasn't a problem with the free refreshments.

I think they still fax off docs to the finance company - you will get an approval (hopefully!) before you come in to collect. If there are any issues you have time to sort them.

So my dealer won't do it any other way! Sending docs in post for me to sign and return with licence by post! This sounds ridiculous as I post this. Collect Monday!

They are not going to come to your home - you say they are to far for you to go them more than once - so unfortunately you are stuck with using the postal system!

Tell them if that's the case, they can send a driver up, pick your licence up, take it there, but need someone to drive it back down to you.

Reviving this topic as the subject is just right for my question. So question for you guys that bought the GTI on PCP finance as I am a little confused. Basically I had my car delivered at home yesterday. The lady that brought it has only given me a sheet o paper that I can use until I get the tax disc and another sheet of paper titled Vehicle Handover.

Now I have asked the dealer if I should get anymore documents from them and they said that I shouldn't get any documents and that everything is sorted. Is that right? I was expecting to get a copy of the finance contract, a V5 certificate and something to show I am insured for 7 days (I have applied for the free 7 days VW insurrance). Also the car came directly with my private plate, however when I signed the Confirmation of Registration Details form last week, the registration day on that form stated 7th of July which in my logic would mean that the car will be registered at that date with the private plate. Now I have also asked the dealer if that seems ok and if I can drive the car and they said I can drive it until then.

So my concerns are:

- what documents have you got with your PCP car?
- am I safe to drive the car until 7th of July?
- is the dealer fobbing me off with the documents?

You arrange the 7 day insurance with VW insurance, not the dealer. When you phone them up they send/email you and the dealer a cover note. The dealer shouldn't be supplying you with any insurance docs as its nowt to do with them.

I would have thought legally you should have gotten a copy of the finance agreement although it my be posted out
