Toyo proxies T1R
« on: 16 November 2013, 21:55 »
I am thinking about getting these in 215/40/16 how good are these in the wet and in dry conditions as the previous owner has budgets on the front wheels and it wheels spins my 16v like I have a 300hp engine :P

That's what I run on my 16v - and they are very good.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Same as above I've been running them since summer very nice to drive with great feel for what's going on and hold on to the road well but very soft at first but as the tread wears they seem to get Abit harder as they wear fast for the first few mm and after that they don't wear as fast from experience

Excellent in wet and dry conditions but absolutely rubbish in any snow or ice. Id go for Hankook ventus v12's or Nankang ns2's

Why would the guy expect them to be any good in snow and ice? It's a summer tyre. Every summer tyre is crap in snow and ice which is the sole reason winter tyres are available.

I had T1Rs on my Lupo GTi and they are very good in the dry but would suggest something like  Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric if you want good grip in the wet.

Just heading into the winter now the Toyos wouldn't be my first choice, for warm dry weather they are superb.

If you want to spend a bit more then Michelen Pilot Sports are great tyres too, but perhaps a bit too premium for a MK3....
