So sorry to read this Jimble.

You waited so patiently for a long time without kicking up a fuss and now this.
If you can't get on with the auto box then that's just the way it is and at least you've tried it, the manual is really nice btw.

What next? Would VW consider swapping for a manual? Or do you want the R?

Maybe you should mention your are a mod on here, may help push things along in your favour, maybe not. :undecided: Difficult one. :undecided:
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Trading Standards will advise initially to let the bodyshop to have another crack at doing a better job on the paintwork. However, if you are not happy then you could push for it to be done at a bodyshop at your choice but that would be unlikely unless they bodge it again

From your description they have rushed the paint job and not allowed sufficient time between coats to let the paint etc cure

T-shirt and a car is not a great comparison; t-shirts are throwaway items........

I don't think i'll need to go to trading standards tbh but who knows, i disagree that a shirt isn't a fair comparison, why should i let anyone have a stab at fixing an inferior product? In hindsight i never should have signed for it, i don't think it's acceptable for it to be anything less than perfect.

Got to wait and see what the dealer says on monday, i've told them i'm a mod on "an internet forum" and the car currently has the stickers in the windows soo??

I would probably lean towards another GTI or an R which would probably be easier tbh, i just don't know what i'll drive until it's built? I test drove an Evoque today as i was near a dealership, nice car but my god it's gutless!! 2.2 SD4 with 190 bhp but my works outlander has more go and thats a fully laden works van!!

Its what Trading Standard will initially advise (missus works for them ). If they cock it up a 2nd time then by all means reject the car but the process you go through will be to give the dealership a chance to rectify it. Unless of course the Brand Manager is on your side and simply does what you want

I had read that the dealers should have the chance to put it right but i think 3 chances is a bit much?

They can do yes

Just chatting to the missus about it. Being a new car it should be PERFECT and you can push for a replacement straightaway

However, If you wanted a replacement then they would offer you like for like so you would be 'stuck' with the DSG.......unless of course you can negotiate a deal

Sorry for any confusion from my earlier post but I was relying on memory rather than get the missus to talk shop on a Saturday night

Like for like if you are getting a replacement "off the shelf" item. As a totally new car order you can take your money and run (a bit tricky if you part exes and want your car back but they sold it in the meantime). No reason why they couldn't order you one to a new spec and shouldn't charge you extra for any pricerises that have come in meantime.

Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Brand new car £33000 worth should be right unfortunately it hasn't been right forget about the dsg I think that is not the problem it's the bodywork so I think a replacement is the least vw can do

Tbh spec for spec would be fine, like i said earlier i think over time i could possibly get used to the gearbox, i've got sooo many scenarios running through my head atm, i thought i could have had my mk6 back and ordered a new one but unfortunately for me they have sold it.

I dunno......

Really, really sorry to hear your woes Jimble. It's stared with DSG and now this re-spray sounds utter sh!te. I'd be rejecting if I had half a chance.

How loyal are your to brand VW? Would you switch to an M135i or something similar? The reason I ask is because if you order an R, and you get it, what if these same feelings surface again? Heck you'll be one unhappy bunny... and a skint one too.
