Most dealers are now padding the dash vent when people complain about that particular rattle.. go back in there and kick up a fuss until they sort it. Tell them you're concerned the seat rattle could be a safety issue and you're considering writing to VW HQ.

can say the only rattles i have are when things jump around in the ashtray and door etc.

But i have got that whilstling mind issue when going fast.  Some peeps say its the seals, but if you have it try the following.

Drive at speed with your window down and place your hand over the indicator bit on the external mirror.   My whistling goes, must be airflow around the joint.

Sort of live with it now lol

alot of owners are filling the gap with a thin layer of silicon sealer.

3000 kilometers done in mine and no rattles from the interior, except a slight resonans from the midrange speaker cover when playing loud at certain frequencies.
Havent come across any car that can withstand soundpressure without some amount of resonans though....

I've got a stange ticking noise coming from the glove box. Yes I've checked for bombs  It's going in on Friday but I don't hold out much hope.

Yep - mine rattled BIG STYLE, but I sorted it.

Windscreen wiiper assembly (the whole dang thing) was slack - so slack that one of the retaining bolts had fallen out & disappeared.  10mm hex socket and a cable tie fixed it - at least until I get another bolt.

Check yours - mine was moving about 10-15mm

Whistles as well sometimes - but my missus says that it goes away at 147mph.  Shes nutz.

Delighted to say no rattles here yet............

But thought you might like to hear about a neighbour we had a few years ago who got mega uptight about a rattle he had in his then brand new mkiii GTi. After it had been into the dealer three times with no result - each time they said they couldn't hear any rattles, each time he got more uptight.

The neighbour then spent a couple of afternoons dismantling & rebuilding the dash himself, but still he couldn't fix it.

Then one day, completely by chance, he discovered what the problem was, it was the buttons on the demountable radio front. Which of course, because he was a very security conscious kind of a chap he took with him every time he left the car at the dealers........... :embarassed:

I've had rattles in both door panels, the top of dash centre vent, the rear seat catches, and the handbrake release button.

All fixed now apart from the handbrake button.

 I love my  Gti but it was back at the dealer last month with rattles.  They replaced the central vent on the dashboard but I have a sunroof & it now makes a noise over bumps! & we've plenty of them down here - traffic calming and all. I'll take it back in for them to look at that.  I've just ordered a R32 yesterday & am doing with out the sunroof this time just in case!(whilst saving 500 quid in the process)
