8V starts but will not run
« on: 15 November 2013, 14:00 »
I have been doing all sorts of work on the car and have now tried to start it which it does but will not run for more than two or three seconds. It is a 91 plate with a PB code engine.
I have removed the ISV and cleaned it but it seemed okay and have put new clips on all hoses to eliminate leaks.

One thing I do have is a loose rogue wire which is green and sheathed in black protector that I do not have a clue where it goes as it had snapped off from somewhere. This may be a red herring and nothing to do with the problem but I need a few pointers as to where to look next.

Any help appreciated

Not much advice forthcoming here but the good people on the Rods n Sods forum helped out.

In case anyone else has similar problems mine was caused by the flap sticking on the VAF sensor unit as it is made of aluminium and corroded and stuck as it had not moved for a couple of months. The wire was off the immobiliser switch on the bonnet.

Hope this is of help to someone at some point
