How'd the run go Monsta?

Well, I actually ended up going to visit a friend last night so my run was different to usual.   I'm not sure it made much difference though.  I did have a really good run up to London and got 41 mpg average but have nothing to compare it to.

Going to leave it as is for the rest of the week but I suspect there is no real benefit of leaving the assembly off!

Seems there is no benefit or downside, probably best to put it back together so i dont lose the screws etc.

If these are anything like the Mk5/Mk6 Carbonio intakes then being able to shift it for a decent price on ebay or on forums isn't going to be a problem if you change your mind.

I think I like the idea of the VWR one as it's as close to OEM as possible which can make dealing with VW easier.

However, the Mk6 kit just had a big "R" logo on it, which bothers me a bit as it's a GTI.  I'd like to see it with "Volkswagen Racing" branding for the Mk7, would make the engine bay look really smart.

But then I guess the better performance is more important so the decision will need to be weighed up after seeing some stats.

Do it monsta! Let me know how it goes lol http://fr-rtuning-shop.co.uk/index.php?_a=product&product_id=4074

Christ! Expensive for a basic intake don't you think? Wonder if these intakes actually have any power gains?

If it was 300 incl vat then it would be ok but at near 400 it is far too expensive for an exposed cone, but in terms of gains, well milltek made 320 bhp and I only made 300, maybe it was the exhaust maybe it was this (see milltek car on top gear, looks similar) but for a mapped car any induction kit will help gains, on its own probably unnoticeable

Yeah I still think the correctly sized universal filter and one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281243348445?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 would be just as good!

My thinking exactly Monsta. Something like this would do the same job?!
