Good luck with that I've been scouring the web for one, I know itg is developing one but nothing's released yet

Was thinking generic cone, the right size to fit on instead of the filter housing.

I see, well there is a few about you can buy but I'll be holding out for an enclosed system

Yeah measured it up and 80mm is the size, been looking at this one;

But then there are a few K&N apollo filters kicking about...  need to research air flow figures first to make it worth while  :smiley:

So today I took the front bit Off of the filter to see if it made a difference, it didn't in either sound or speed so tomorrow I'll be putting it back together lol

Yeah I've left mine off for now as I'm going to do a long run on the motorway tomorrow and wanted to see if the MPG is slightly better with a 5 degree temp decrease!

I suspect it's going back together though  :smiley:

Never thought about mpg, it was a 70 mile journey of mixed 50, 60 and a bit of 70 and I managed to return 47mpg by the time I got on my door, very boring but I promised the Mrs I would drive sensibly.

Thing is, I have nothing really to compare it against as I have driven so slow, I'm normally a 70odd driver :smiley:

My weekly motorway run is about 85 miles on adaptive cruise (once on the motorway) and set to the same speed each week.  My best has been 38 MPG door to door on that particular route.

I'll let you know the outcome tomorrow!

Jolly good, let me know how you get on as it may have to stay disconnected if i its better mpg but same performance.

Id have to say id be surprised, it looks like the path that is created by the plasitc trim is designed to vortex the air so i assumed this was for better mpg results, that said it might not be working out well in practice.

Well, I actually ended up going to visit a friend last night so my run was different to usual.   I'm not sure it made much difference though.  I did have a really good run up to London and got 41 mpg average but have nothing to compare it to.

Going to leave it as is for the rest of the week but I suspect there is no real benefit of leaving the assembly off!
