Has any ever taken a car to a Vic test

I have seen a car that it needs a VIC test.

I work in a garage that can do mots does this mean they can VIC Test or is this a DVLA thing.

Its a DVLA/VOSA sort of thing. Its basically "Vehicle Identity Check". Check if the chassis number, Vin number all match and its the same car that's been bought back onto the road. Not a cut and shut, if you get me.

But going on what you have told me it could be a big gamble and could lose the car to vosa if its a cut and shut.
 doesn't seem worth it tbh.

As far as im aware you only need a vic check if the car has been in an accident and has been written off OR stolen and recovered. Why wont the guy get it vic checked?

And its an auto & a 1.6
I paid just a bit more and got an agu and mine needs a vic check

I was just wondering if this was something you needed to do if lost log book if you see the ad doesn't really explain much and title is (VW Golf MK 4 1999) seems he is just lazy with everything could just be cat C right off but im not risking it lol there are cheap cars around and only for this misses.

a cant see it being a cut an shut  and the guy has decent feedback why doubt him

You do not need a VIC check to get another log book so I suspect it is a repaired car that will need the VIC check

You do need a vic check to get another log book , until it's vic checked the car is not acknowledged by the dvla ie no tax reminder etc once vic checked (50 odd quid) you send off the vic certificate you will receive a fresh log book.
Be aware that when you come to insure it all your troubles begin especially if it was previously cat c .......... Speaking from experience
