GROUP BUY - R20 xenon headlights (PLEASE READ)
« on: 13 November 2013, 20:59 »
ok, I'll start off by saying these are replica OEM xenon headlight units, but before you write them off have a read at what's on offer.

I have been speaking with the manufacturer of these lights and requested RHD versions, as they normal produce LHD versions only. However I have managed to put together a group buy package.

The headlight units in question are below (actual units):

They are replica chrome R20 units. (other units are available from this manufacturer ie. chrome with LED DRL, black and black with LED DRL. if you want info on these units, please drop me an inbox).

The units are of a high quality and come with a 12 month warranty, so if they are any problems in the following 12 months after purchsase the units will be replaced with new. no questions asked. They are plug and play, so they do not require any coding, adapters, modules or ballasts.

They units also come with a choice of HID kits (5000K, 6000K & 8000K optional) included in the price.

THE PRICE

$546USD delivered to your door

at the time of posting, Google currency converts this to £340.57

much cheaper than paying £900 for the OEM units, plus bulbs, adapters, ballasts and coding.

we need a minimum order of 5 sets (anything over this then we may be entitled to a further discount).

PAYMENT

payment must be sent via myself by either paypal (you cover fees) or I can provide my bank details for a BACS transfer. I will update this thread with a deadline payment date once I start receiving orders.

If anyone has any questions, give me a shout.

Are they halogen lamps that will receive a HID kit?

How does main beam work, shutters behind the lens like OEM Bi-xenons?

If it does have a aftermarket HID set up in it, do the ballasts react quickly enough to provide a main beam flash when the lights are turned off?

To the height adjusters work from the existing switch?

With non-LED ones, what will we use for DRL's? Coding required to put dip beam on as per OEM I presume?

How long from payment to you to delivery to us? And what comeback have we got from you if they don't turn up?

I am interested, but would like to know the answer to these questions and probably some more when I've had time to think.

have a read of this review of the LED DRL version, it should answer most of your questions: http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?10123-Product-Review-%E2%80%93-Bold-Sport-Replica-Mk6-Golf-HID-Headlamps-*Updated*

with regards to postage, it should take around 3 weeks from order to delivery as the units are being made to order specifically for this group buy. the manufacturer usually only deal with LHD versions.

Having read through the linked thread, there is no definitive answer about main beam flash. I would suspect it would be a case of, bright for a spit second - go dim - gradually get brighter again. The same would apply for coming/leaving home lights. Not good.

There is also the issue of the security of our money if things go wrong. Having paid you, our contract would be with you Pryda, Be very careful about that one.

I can pass on your question to the manufacturer, unfortunately it's something I can't answer for you.

as for payment, it will be sent from me via paypal and should there be any issues then it will be dealt with through the paypal safeguards.

I understand the concerns. I spoke to a reputable distributor in the states at length before I was referred to the manufacturer to request RHD units to be made up, at which point we put together this group buy option.

these units have been very popular in the states and australia. I think the reason we haven't seen them over here is because they simply don't make RHD units.

but of course, the choice is yours. once I get enough orders to satisfy the minimum order to manufacture then I won't be organising any other group buys for these lights.

Reading that thread. Seems the in-car manual leveling switch still works.
