Until a permanent solution comes about from VW, why not when cleaning the car have the filler flap opened (the cap is after all water tight), then you can dry it out behind the flap before closing - just a thought ?

Mine hasn't developed the fault yet, but could be only a matter of time ?

Yes, think that is definitely the way forward, unless Craig's dealer comes up with a solution tomorrow.

Yeah you could have the flap open when washing but really you shouldnt need to be doing this on a £30k car. Plus giving it more thought why don't they have a button to open the flap like Audi do on their cars? I never had one issue with it on my TT

I agree Craig.  There should be a button - its so old fashioned to have to push the cap in to release, also if you've just cleaned the car then you get finger marks - which doesn't happen with a button.  Cost savings I imagine, but still - it's a £30k car, don't mug us off.

On the other hand, how many times have you got out of the cars, gone to the flap and thought "shit, I forgot to open it"
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

None but I did open the boot instead of the petrol cap on several occasions

the button release on my previous jetta stopped working at the diesel pump so no system is 100% perfect.

The latest annoyance for me is that the buzzing noise I was experiencing on acceleration has suddenly appeared back again. When I shift up and then accelerate this very strange noise appears and after a couple of seconds it's gone. Then I change up and accelerate again and it appears and so on. I had the car in for inspection several weeks ago and the technician had the dashboard out and was putting in more soundproofing but suffice to say it's not worked. I've captured a very short few seconds on video to show the noise in getting. Any suggestions what it could be?

Meant to say it sounds louder in the car than it does on the video plus it doesn't seem to be having any negative impact on performance. It's just bloody annoying

That is definately the MDI cable in the cubby behind the gearstick mate! Open it and hold onto it while you accelerate, mine was exactly the same.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Jimble, I thought it was this as well when another forum member mentioned to me that he had the same issue. So I removed the cable after hearing tonight and unfortunately the noise was still there. The video is taken with the MDI cable detached

I drove a 7 today, and the thing that annoyed me was that the headlight switch is not in the vertical position when it's turned to AUTO.
