Surprisingly, the brakes on the PP GTi are nothing too special over the standard GTI brakes. It's the same basic single piston calliper that the non PP model has (albeit with a fancy GTI plaque that covers it), but with larger diameter discs, and ventilated discs at the back.

Even the new "R" model has the same setup as the GTI PP. Strange that a car worth nearly £30k, gets a pretty basic set up (albeit from what I've heard quite effective), yet the Megane's etc of this world that are £8-£10k cheaper get a full Brembo set up. VW penny pinching again ?

Really? that's a poor show... as I said, I hadn't looked in any detail at the specs. I'm not convinced that there's a significant benefit of vented disks on the back on a front wheel drive car.

Same as last gen tho, however I think Seat offered as an upgrade on the latest ibiza and the were standard On mk1 cupra R's, shame really but unless your track saying I've found the standard brakes fine for road use
Seatsport were going to fit them to lcr mk2 but in extensive testing they found the r32 brakes did not suffer heatsoke as much as the brembos. Brembos are just a name an overrated one imo and as an ex lcr mk1 owner and seeing how much trouble my tech mate at the alfa dealer also have with them at work im glad vw went with a simpler setup. Never wondered why there so many referb kits
on ebay.

It's not the spring, starting to see this on all golf 7 just needs slight modification to flap as it jams along side where the plunger sits on body

George, Have you seen any fixes for poor mpg, frequent DPF regens or slightly down on power for the GTDs yet? My Scirocco 170TDI was quicker (noticeably most in 5th and 6th gear acceleration) and 10% more frugal than my GTD, and I never had a single active regen in the whole time I had it.

My MK5 170TDI PD had similar issues which were fixed with a service remap.

No fixes for poor mpg and no one complaining. You can not compare these to previous models as whole engine, EGR system and DPF system completely different and operate in different ways for euro 6 specs

I was back in to the dealer again today as there is definitely something wrong with the spring mechanism on my fuel flap. It's just jamming all the time so the car is now booked in for Tuesday. Worse still, on the way home tonight I stick the car into sport mode and when I floor it the buzzing behind the dashboard has reappeared. Not a happy bunny

Craig, just had my car cleaned - went to open the fuel flap to get rid of the water collecting in there - and it's stuck. Did you get yours fixed? I'll be off to the dealers first thing in the morning - p!ss poor.

It's going in on Tuesday to get fixed Mark. From what I gather they are not replacing any parts but instead it's something to do with excess residue on the catchment. It's been temperamental though as it's working ok just now. Like you, it seems to be after I wash the car it's getting stuck.

On another note when I asked the guy about free upgrades on the sat nav maps he said he knew nothing about it.

Well I'm going in (unannounced) first thing tomorrow - as I need some petrol! Must be after washing then if you've had the same issue - ridiculous situation though on a brand new car  Ill let you know how they fix it tomorrow.

Cheers Mark. Will look forward to hear what they've got to say to you. The technician I spoke to did acknowledge that he had already had a few mk7 in with the same issue. Feckin outrageous

Ok, so was all prepared to go this morning - pressed the key to unlock and hey presto the fuel flap flipped open.  P!ss poor really, but pushed it in and out about 10 times and it was holding and opening, so didn't bother going to the dealers.  Must be something to do with the water getting stuck under the fuel cap?  Its clearly going to happen again, so I'll be interested what your dealer says to you tomorrow Craig as I'm guessing I'm going to have to get mine fixed at some point (as I don't want to have to remember to have enough petrol in the car every time I get it cleaned!)  Not pleased with that though, I mean do they not test these things?!

Until a permanent solution comes about from VW, why not when cleaning the car have the filler flap opened (the cap is after all water tight), then you can dry it out behind the flap before closing - just a thought ?

Mine hasn't developed the fault yet, but could be only a matter of time ?
