dsg definitely doesnt suit the gtd at least not when I test drove one. dsg is better suited to petrol imo and both courtesy cars I had with dsg and petrol were brilliant.

I love the car! But yesterday after 2000 miles my auto handbrake has started to play up.

When taking off at the lights the handbrake will not let go, I have to rev up to get away.

This morning is was washed and suddenly it's working again!

Is it a sensor maybe?

My handbrake failed completely for a journey – the MFD proclaimed that functionality was lost for both the hand brake and hill hold.

Next trip and everything was back on. I’ve had the hill hold turn itself off on a few journeys too. I have noticed that the handbrake system aggressively keeps a grip when you want to go into reverse – seems to need twice as much throttle to disengage it.

Where is the hill hold function? When I went to manual handbrake sitting on a hill, I had to put my foot on the brake, release the handbrake then quickly hit the accelerator before I rolled back.

It should kick in as soon as you apply the footbrake

You do need to press the auto hold button though so an orange light comes on underneath it. Mine was turned off by default

If the car has been parked up for a while I find that the handbrake won't disengage unless I press the footbrake down hard - is this normal? I haven't had time to go through the manual in detail yet. Also, in the last couple of days something odd has happened when I put the car in reverse to park, the car won't move at all and I can't depress the brake pedal. After trying a couple of times it's ok. Is this something to worry about? It's only happened in the evening, not in the mornings

Handbrake/hillhold were infuriating tonight. Visited the mother in law and parked the car on a bit of a hill. moving off to overcome the handbrake to disengage took a lot more throttle than it should, I stalled twice. Only stalled the car once previously. Reversing into a space at a retail park afterwards the brake wouldn't let go and then all of a sudden sprung off bite. Hate the bloody thing.
