That may be so but at £9.99 to buy it and spend a do it yourself properly compared to hundreds of pounds to have it improperly applied - well thats a very expensive warranty!

How much are people typically paying for these treatments ?

Only reason I say is that a detailer will typically take more care and be significantly cheaper. Peeps just assume it will be more ....

I had my recent new arrival, albeit not a VW, untouched by the dealer, got Mark from Autobrite in to detail, £150 for the package I had, and walked away with a perfect finish .....

2012 GTi 3 door, DSG, Nav, Roof, Monza's. Candy White..... and it's the wife's.

Glasscoat was £350, wish I has just used a detailer now. I'm going to push for some sort of compensation and put that towards a professional detailer doing the job instead.

As most have said above, if the surface has not been adequately prepped/cleaned properly before application, then it wont bond properly and you wont get the best from the product. Given the swirls are there, that may well be the case.

Russ Aston at Midlands Car Care is your man, he's invested a huge amount over the last few years in his business and covers all aspects of detailing/vehicle enhancement. I've met him and seen his work for my own eyes and I'd most certainly recommend him.

Not only will MCC lavish lots of care and attention to cleaning the car properly before application, they will reapply a glass coating for you (I know they use C-Quartz Finest which is one of the best in the business).

Yes it will cost, but you are safe in the knowledge that it will be done properly to a very high standard.

When I bought my Passat, the Salesman tried to sell me Life Shine. He said it was normally £399, but I could have it for £300. I declined, so he came back with "in this case we can offer it to you for £250" I declined again. "What if it was £200?" He could see he was not getting anywhere, so said "Ok, how much would you be happy paying for it?" "Nothing" I replied, "It's shiit." "Oh" said the Salesman, "errrrrrr we are doing a special deal on alloy wheel insurance this week Sir..."

Dealer rang today to say they want to come and pick the car up to inspect the paint and correct it. What do I do?

My worries are;

1) The cars at 660 miles and the mechanic will probably rag every gear to the red line.

2) They might cock it up even more.

Do I just take the hit or give them a chance?

I would frst ask them what they propose to do. I would certainly not be handing it over to anyone. If it has to go back I would drive it. However if it was me I would not have any faith that they are able to undertake this sort of work.

Just book it in on a day when they have a courtesy car available, even if it takes a couple of weeks and drive it in yourself.
