Winter wheels and tyres.
« on: 10 November 2013, 02:03 »
Well it feels like its almost that time. I didn't have my GTi last winter. I had a fat heavy 5 series estate and it was useless in the snow.
I swore after the last 2 years I'd get winter steelies and tyres, so now I'm looking for a set for my 2010 Golf.

These look like exactly what I was after : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK6-4-x-Goodyear-Ultra-Grip-7-205-55-16-Winter-Tyres-and-Steel-Wheels-/111206140460?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+VI&hash=item19e4670a2c&autorefresh=true
Threw a few bids on and it kept going up as it seemed a little mad at £390 and quite a drive to collect.

Whats the best place to get a set of these, and what would I expect to pay? I like the reviews on these Goodyear Ultragrip.

I was going to start a thread on this subject but you beat me to it!

I'm really considering buying a set of winter wheels and was after some recommendations.

Don't really want to spend a fortune

Well I won a set on eBay tonight for £240 with £400 worth of tyres on them so HAPPY DAYS. Last set I was watching went for £420.
Came from a Mk6 apparently too.
You want steel wheels with 205/55 R16 tyres. Most the combos I priced up on mytyres were over £500.

Theres a fella over in Wakefield that has a few sets on eBay right now for a bit over £300.
